October is the perfect time to explore the natural beauty around Mumbai and when this weekend presented r4review team with an opportunity to attend a life enhancing cooking workshop at Hilton Shillim, we made sure that Ankit attends it on-behalf of the team.
Located in the Sahyadri mountain range, Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat & Spa Dining is great holiday destination for all those who want to get away from the madness and monotony of their daily life and are seeking for peace, wellness, privacy and relaxation.
The drive on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Shillim takes just under three hours, and the drive from Pune takes 1.5 hours.
It took more than 12 years to build this 320 acres wide property and still few villas are under construction. You need a car to explore different points of the property.
As I happened to visit the property just after the monsoon, I was amazed by the beauty all around, the magnificent mountains covered with green of various shades and the Pawana Lake flowing swiftly in the valley created a view which was nothing less than mesmerizing.
Things to try -:
- The first thing is to select a Villa for you.
You can select from a valley, hill or a forest view or a villa
with a private pool.
The villas are generously spaced out and offer a stunning view of the mountains and lake. Privacy here is just of the best notch.
- Shillim Spa –
This Indian spa retreat integrates the ancient philosophic, spiritual and artistic wisdom of South Asia with modern international practices. There are more than 80 treatments and spa programs.
- Lifetime Dinning Experience – :
Amid the beauty of nature there are seven restaurants and bars where you get a lifetime dinning experience.
- Yoga & Wellness programs
There are lot of wellness programs provided here including Yoga which is the best medicine for your mind and body.
- Infinity pool
If you believe in love at first sights, this is where it will surely come true. You can relax in the infinity pool which provides a outstanding view of the scenic beauty all around.
- Shillim Institute
Shillim Institute hosts numerous workshops on cooking, dancing, painting and music.
This is where the life enhancing cooking workshop, curated by Sharan was conducted.
It was a great workshop which laid emphasis on the importance of organic food in our day to day dining.
Right from luscious appetizers to lip smacking deserts, everything which came on our plate was delicious.
When to visit
During or after monsoon season when you will be surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful waterfalls.
It is a bit on the higher side, starting at Rs 15000 / night.
Selected as the Best Destination Spa in Geo asiaSpa Awards India and Asia’s Most Romantic Resort in the World Travel Awards, undoubtedly this place deserves every possible recognition.
Though a bit heavy on the pocket it is the perfect holiday destination for people especially couples who are seeking for solace and wellness in the lap of mother nature.
